DESCRIPTION:“Lions and tigers and bears\, oh my!” Many of us may recall this phrase from Wizard of Oz – Scarecrow as they consider all the dangers they could encounter in the forest on the way to the Emerald City. That phrase has been around since 1900 when the author penned The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. \nRaising kids in this digital age can often be overwhelming. Within the landscape of today’s culture – the “lions\, tigers\, and bears” can refer to the unknown dangers awaiting us on the other side of our digital screens. Smith County Investigation\, Tim McDonald\, will be sharing ways to keep our kids safe with the adults at Family Collective September 8th. Meanwhile\, kids from pre-k to high school will learn strategies to protect themselves in a fun\, playful environment. \nOur Family Collective is our monthly support group for foster\, adoptive and kinship families.  Each month\, we gather together for pizza\, salad\, and then break off into sessions pending age/grade.  Each session is led by local therapists who are trauma informed and want to support our families. \nDinner will be served from 5:30-6:00pm. The Fostering Collective exists to recruit and shepherd Christ-centered families in East Texas to help children in foster care. \nJoin us as we raise the necessary funds to provide tangible resources\, advocacy efforts\, and trauma support along with community that’s needed to help children in foster care to become all that God made them to be. SUMMARY:Babysitter Training
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to offer a one time training that we partner with local child placing agencies to certify sitters for foster families.  Participating agencies include 4Kids4Families\, Arrow\, Bair\, Rekindle\, TBHC\, Methodist Children’s Home\, Grace Manor\, Christian Homes\, Azleway\, UpBring\, Hope Haven\, Buckner\, Compass Connection and Noble. \nFirst Aid and CPR begins promptly at 5pm and the class starts at 6:00. Dinner will be provided for those attending in person. \nOnce you have attended this training\, completed all the paperwork and become Infant and Child CPR and First Aid you will be able to serve families for up to 72 hours.  You must be 21 or older. \nWe are offering an option to attend Virtually via Zoom. Please choose that option at check out. \nIf you need CPR/First Aid\, you will need to pay an additional $50 to E&E Heartsavers.  Their Venmo is Nancy-Elliott-CPR.  Then text Nancy at 903-714-5101 your name and email address to get started on the online portion of the course.
