Let’s Connect is our monthly lunch and learn support group specifically for kinship families. Kinship Care is when a relative or family friend is a caregiver to a child.
Our FIRST Let’s Connect will focus on Interoception. This is a “hidden” sense that allows us to notice internal body signals such as hunger, racing heart, tense muscles and full bladders. When we notice these body signals, our brain responds with emotions. Interoception helps us to feel those emotions such as:
Hunger, Pain, Sleepiness, Anxiety, Calm, Fullness, Illness, Need for Bathroom, Distraction, Boredom, Thirst, Body Temperature, Anger, Focus and Sadness
Often, our kids’ bodies struggle with these signals and identifying how they feel.
Join us as Tiffany Davault, our Family Resource Specialist, shares strategies that can improve your child’s Interoception on September 26th from 12-1 at our office, 201 Winchester Dr. Please register so we know you are coming. We are going to provide lunch for our first lunch and learn together.
